Sizer Spotlight
Komatsu’s MVT-II 600 sizer with matched velocity technology minimizes waste and can crush a wide variety of materials
If your quarry or cement operation is looking for high production with minimal waste, Komatsu’s MVT-II 600 sizer with matched velocity technology (MVT) can help minimize fines and reduce disposal costs.
“The MVT-II 600 is a secondary sizer, and the MVT matches the speed of the material with the pick rotation, so undersized materials pass through without being recrushed,” explained Brandon Phillips, Global Product Manager, Komatsu Mining Corp. “With reduced fines, this sizer can provide greater value to the user. It’s designed for a 1-inch to 4-inch product size with a maximum capacity of up to 2,000 tons per hour. The sizer has diverse applications, from aggregates and hard rock to polyhalite, and there are very few limitations on the applications for this machine.”
The no-clog crushing of the MVT-II 600 can consistently crush a combination of hard, abrasive minerals and wet, sticky material. MVT uses tension rather than compression, which saves significant energy. Timed center-sizing rolls enable teeth to mesh together and control product size in three dimensions. The sizer can potentially reduce the number of crushing/screening stations required and can work with very large lump sizes to increase crushing ratios.
Engineered for lower cost of ownership, the sizer has replaceable bolt-on roll wear segments and durable pick technology. Shaft assemblies include cast wear segments with replaceable teeth for extended life.
Lower costs, environmentally sustainable
The MVT-II 600 can be installed where many other crushing technologies would not fit and at a potentially lower cost. Ideal for surface mobile or underground applications with a small machine envelope, secondary sizers can often be installed between conveyor transfer points to reconcile material handling issues.
“It’s an all-electric system, so it’s more environmentally sustainable than traditional diesel machines,” noted Phillips. “The MVT is typically mounted on some type of small platform over a conveyor and usually on skids, which makes it easy to move on the job site.”
To support Komatsu’s One Komatsu global strategy and the integration of legacy companies into the Komatsu brand, sizers (including the MVT-II 600), reclaim feeders and surface feeder breakers are being rebranded from Joy orange to Komatsu yellow.
