Montabert, Tramac, Lehnhoff show commitment to aggregate operations during World of Asphalt and AGG1 Aggregates Academy & Expo

With a record attendance of more than 15,000 people, World of Asphalt and AGG1 Aggregates Academy & Expo included over 440 exhibitors who displayed various equipment and technology. Montabert, Tramac and Lehnhoff (Komatsu-owned companies) exhibited a wide range of products for the aggregate industry.

Montabert showcased its HCP 850-R rotating pulverizer for 15- to 27-ton excavators. The 4,166-pound pul-verizer has an approximately 32-inch jaw opening and a 33.46-inch jaw depth.

“In secondary demolition, or in breaking and recycling, the HCP 850 will separate concrete from rebar,” ex-plained Aaron Scarfia, General Manager of Komatsu Attachments. “That allows facilities to process mate-rial down to manageable pieces.”

Additional Montabert products included a V32 fully variable hydraulic rock breaker in the 5,000-foot-pound impact class. It has 15 frequencies and automatically adjusts the stroke, frequency and impact force based on the hardness of the rock.

Plus, Montabert displayed an SC50 hydraulic rock breaker attached to a Tramac TS14 pedestal boom with a 14-foot reach. The pedestal boom has a 180-degree swing arc, a 2,105-pound maximum lifting capacity and a 750- to 2,000-foot-pound hammer impact class range.

“Tramac also manufactures a full 360-degree rotation, and we use these for pedestal applications to break any rock that’s caught in the crusher,” noted Scarfia. “We will do a job site visit and help customers engi-neer a platform for them. It can be mounted on a concrete pad. It can be on a steel member. Whatever the quarry needs, we will adapt the base structure to it.”

Efficient attachment changes

Attendees also checked out the Lehnhoff SQ60V fully automatic hydraulic quick coupler designed for ex-cavators ranging from Komatsu’s compact 8-ton PC78US to its 19-ton PC170LC. Lehnhoff has three other models for larger excavators, up to the 70-ton PC650LC.

“Our quick couplers allow you to change attachments from the operator’s cab within 30 seconds,” said Scarfia. “It’s highly efficient because operators can quickly redirect their efforts versus switching hydraulic lines, which can take an hour or more per attachment. It also prevents contamination from dragging hos-es across the ground.”

Scarfia emphasized that Montabert is known for its rock-breaking technology but also manufactures a wide range of other products.

“We have grapples, multiprocessors and shears,” Scarfia stated. “We want to partner with aggregate sup-pliers, recyclers and demolition companies to help solve any issues they might have. We’re here to help them be productive on the job site.”
